4 Things You Need To Know Trying To Get Pregnant

Trying to get pregnant

If you have made the life-changing decision to try and get pregnant, you will likely become very familiar with the topic of fertility and the physiology of your own reproductive system.

However, while every woman’s journey to pregnancy is a personal one, there are four key things that could help your chances of conceiving.

Mr Sachin Maiti, our Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist here at Pall Mall Medical, sets out the all-important information and advice which may help you as you travel down the life-changing road to having children.

1.SEX. It is advised to have sex once a day for 4 days before and 4 days after ovulation for a pregnancy. As sperm can survive inside a woman’s body for 3-5 days, having sex during this period will give the sperm time to travel up the fallopian tubes as the egg is being released.

2.LIFESTYLE. Simple changes to your daily habits like eating healthily, exercising regularly and taking folic acid supplements can help with pregnancy.

3.MEDICATION. If you have any underlying medical conditions or are on medication, It is advised that you see your doctor for pre-pregnancy counselling to discuss options to optimise your chances.

4.FERTILITY. Blood tests and scans can help assess and determine certain aspects of fertility and your potential to get pregnant.

Pall Mall Medical offers a full range of health and medical services, including private GP appointments, specialist consultant appointments (including male & female gynaecology), as well as advanced diagnostics, cosmetic surgery and occupational health.
