After almost five months of a Tinder-free, sexually deprived lockdown, our experts at Pall Mall Medical have seen an explosion in the number sexually transmitted infection (STIs) and sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) testing enquiries, as Brits get back to “business” in the bedroom.
Dr Tang says “Since the easing of lockdown we have seen a 138% increase in STI and STD related enquiries within just 4 weeks and following last month’s further easing of restrictions, we saw an additional 20% rise.
“In general people in the UK obeyed the rules not to engage in sexual intercourse with those they did not live with, however as people begin to get back into dating and exploring intercourse with new partners or those they do not live with, we have seen a record number of enquiries for STI screenings at our clinics – especially amongst those under the age of 45.
“It is important for people to ensure they are practicing safe sex and visiting their GP for regular testing, as leaving STIs or STDs untreated can sometimes lead to devastating long-term complications, and they often go unnoticed.
“We see many cases where there are no visible symptoms present, so it’s incredibly important that if someone thinks they may be at risk they book in for screening as soon as possible.
“If you think you are suffering from the effects of an STI or simply want peace of mind, At Pall Mall, we offer discreet, same or next day testing with results available within 1-3 days. We also offer an instant result service, with results available within 20 minutes. Testing is available Monday – Saturday and we offer early morning, afternoon and evening appointments to suit your schedule.”
