Better body proportions

In some cases, after a significant amount of weight loss or, your arms sagging due to the effects of gravity and ageing - your arms may be not fit your body frame

However, after undergoing brachioplasty surgery you should expect an alternation in your appearance as a result of the surgery will be your arms now proportion with the rest of your body.

Better workout results

After your arm lift, you’ll notice that without the excess skin and tissue you’ll be stronger. You will expect to see results from your workouts and you’ll also find lifting weights and performing arm exercises a lot easier.

About the Arm Lift Procedure

Arm lift surgery often takes between 1 and 2 hours. During an arm lift, your surgeon first marks the areas of extra skin and fat. At this stage, your surgeon will be able to discuss with you the shape of the scar.

The procedure can either be done under local or general anaesthesia. The surgeon will discuss the options with you during the consultation stage.

Usually, an incision is made on the inner surface of the arm, which extends into the armpit. The excess skin and fat will be removed.  In most cases, liposuction is often performed and then the excess fat and skin are removed.

A drain may be inserted, to carry excess fluids from the surgical area, before the incisions are closed and bandaged.

Internal stitches are used to tighten the internal lining of the arm and the skin is sutured using dissolvable stitches. Minimal incisions can be used and extended incisions may also be required.

The result of the procedure gives a more youthful and sculpted-looking arms.

How long will it take for me to heal from the arm lift?

Every patient will be different when it comes to the healing process. Initial scar healing takes approximately two weeks. After that time, your surgeon will work with you on scar management including massage and topical therapies to minimize its appearance.

Will there be scarring from the arm lift surgery?

In the short-scar arm lift, the scar is a curved line that can be hidden in the armpit. Over time scars naturally tend to fade and with time the scars will not be visible to the naked eye.

In the Long “traditional” scar; it will enrol in line with the sewing line of the arm of the shirt

How long is the recovery period for arm lift surgery?

The recovery period will vary depending on the case. Usually after arm lift surgery the patient will be recommended about one week off from work. During this period your surgeon will require you to wear a compression garment to reduce swelling and provide support for the tissues of the arm.

To help the recovery process, you will be recommended to keep the arms elevated and avoid heavy lifting for at least a few weeks after surgery.
