What happens during face & neck lift surgery?

From your first call or email, we’re here to look after you. Whether you’re still researching about how to gain a more youthful facial appearance and would like more information about a face and neck lift, or you’re ready to meet a surgeon to see what results you can achieve, our team of patient co-ordinators are here to help.

Consultation

Your surgeon will examine your face and then explain the incision process and how the best results can be reached. The consultation will last between 25-40 minutes and during this time you can ask questions freely and the surgeon will allay any fears you may have.

Additionally, the Pall Mall team will also talk you through the next steps and what to expect from the surgery, as well as any risks that could occur so that you feel comfortable in your knowledge.

Pre-Operation

Before you undergo surgery we will invite you into a clinic so that we can discuss the upcoming procedure and the Nurse who will conduct the appointment will answer any of the questions you may have about your Face/Neck lift.

Your nurse will also run an MRSA check as well as blood/urine tests to ensure you’re medically fit for the operation. Additionally, we will take photographs of your face before the surgery so that we can have medical records for both ourselves and you.

Surgery

The operation will take place at our industry-leading private hospital with on-site parking for free and wonderful bedrooms for you to relax in before and after your procedure.

Our team will make you feel very welcome and settled before the surgeon arrives to conduct a few checks on your health and then finally get your consent to take you into theatre.

Once in the theatre general anaesthetic will be used to sedate you and the operation will take place over the course of 1.5 to 3 hours. This figure is based on what the desired outcome discussed at your consultation with the surgeon.

Post-Surgery

Our staff are always keen to keep tabs on their patients and therefore in the weeks following your face/neck lift we expect to see you a minimum three times, after 1, 2 and 6 weeks. This will allow us to examine your progress and see how your results are developing. We will also take some more pictures to record the change.

Aftercare

We offer a comprehensive aftercare service with 24/7 contact to our nurse as well as the commitment to see you as many times as you like after the surgery. We will only be happy with the outcome of your surgery when you are.

Is facelift surgery suitable for me?

There are many reasons that a person may consider a facelift with/without a neck lift. Typically people wish to restore the appearance of their face to address the natural ageing process. We see male & female patients of all ages – in their 40’s through to their 80s!

There are multiple techniques for the facelift – which one is used depends on the desired look you want to achieve.

The face and neck lift is able to target multiple areas:

  • Forehead area
  • Areas surrounding the eyes
  • Cheek definition
  • Chin/jowl reshaping
  • Temple areas
  • Facial muscles
  • Neck areas

The least invasive surgical option is the MACS (Minimal Access Cranial Suspension) facelift, often referred to as a mini-facelift. It uses a “short scar” technique, which creates a fresh, natural appearance. Small incisions are made at the temples and use the existing creases around the ear area. The procedure does not involve a long scar behind the ear – all scars are hidden by the hairline or within the natural creases.

Many patients will choose to include eyelid surgery alongside the facelift in order to fully achieve restore a youthful appearance within the upper, mid and lower face areas.

How long will it take to recover from a face/neck lift surgery?

The recovery time of face lift surgery depends on the technique required. Typically, the MACS Face Lift is much less invasive when compared to a full Face and Neck Lift procedure, meaning the recovery time can be much shorter.

How long will the results of facelift surgery last?

Most patients state that the results of a Face Lift procedure can last around 10 years, but this depends on the elasticity of your skin and your lifestyle: diet, body weight, exposure to sunlight, consumption of alcohol and smoking habits. If you lead a healthy lifestyle, you will likely get the maximum benefit from surgery.

Why do I need to go private for facelift surgery?

The NHS does not commonly carry out a cosmetic Face Lift unless there is an associated and significant distress or pain. For this reason, many women or men choose to have the procedure done at a private healthcare clinic such as Pall Mall Cosmetics. There is no waiting list, and you do not need any referral to have a cosmetic operation performed.

We can ensure your safety at our CQC (care quality commission) regulated hospital in Newton-le-Willows and city centre clinics in Manchester or Liverpool. Our expert facial surgeons mostly come from the NHS, so you get the same quality of surgery, but in a safe, clean and professional private clinical environment.

Our surgeons also strive for excellence, being members of BAAPS (British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons) and BAPRAS (British Association of Plastic & Reconstructive Aesthetic Surgeons). A clear demonstration of our ability to meet the gold standard of care you would expect from an elite surgical hospital.
