Liver Health Screen

Health Screens - Healthy Liver Screen

Book your appointment

A Healthy Liver Screen is a proactive check for those who have symptoms or worries of liver disease. Liver tests are typically suitable for those who are overweight or obese, suffering from alcohol abuse (heavy drinking) in the past or present, or if you are seeking peace of mind on the state of your liver’s health due to your lifestyle.

The Healthy Liver Screen involves a 30-45 minute appointment with our Private GP and an additional session to complete a liver ultrasound scan. Appointments can take place at our CQC certified clinics in Liverpool, Manchester and Newton-Le-Willows. All liver screens are fully confidential and discreet, being an ideal way to highlight any particular concerns or history you have.

Following your appointment and liver ultrasound scan, you will receive a detailed report, containing the results and findings, highlighting any areas of concern and follow-up advice or next-steps in these areas.

When should you consider liver testing?

You should consider taking our Healthy Liver Screen especially if you have any of the following risk factors:

  • Fatty liver disease associated with obesity or drinking
  • You have or have had viral Hepatitis B and C
  • Diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes or Metabolic Syndrome
  • A history of alcohol abuse (heavy drinking)
  • A strong family history of liver disease

What liver tests are involved?

Our specially designed Healthy Liver Screen costs £479 and involves the cutting-edge enhanced ELF blood liver fibrosis test and a diagnostic liver ultrasound scan designed to give you a full picture of your liver health and to aid in the identification of any early or significant liver disease.

Why are these liver tests important?

Liver Ultrasound Scan

Ultrasound imaging (sonography) is a non-invasive technique used to take pictures of your Liver to help diagnose signs of Alcoholic and Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD), Liver Fibrosis and Alcoholic Cirrhosis. No x-rays or any type of ionising radiation is involved and for this reason, it is considered a very safe test.

Enhanced Liver Fibrosis (ELF) Blood Test

The ELF blood test is an excellent aid in the diagnosis and assessment of the severity of liver fibrosis, important for patients witrh signs or symptoms of chronic liver disease. Liver fibrosis is the scarring process that represents the livers response to injury or disease.

The ELF result has been proven to correlate to the level of fibrosis assessed by liver biopsy for the early identification of significant liver disease, that is both minimally invasive vs a biopsy and cost effective too.

NAFLD is one of the most common types of liver disease and has become chronic in children and adults, mainly as a result of obesity*. Early diagnosis and management with Pall Mall Medical is therefore important at all ages, and we have access to additional MRI scanning or a specialist Gastroenterologist if required. *(NICE guidelines).
