Should I get a mole removed, is it important?
Most moles appear during early childhood, and the majority of people can have 20-40 moles by the time they reach adulthood.
For those people who are more prone to developing mole, sometimes are up to 100 moles, they are at greater risk of developing melanoma, a deadly form of skin cancer. Mole removal is becoming more common due the increased attention on melanoma prevention and treatment.
Reasons for having a mole removed In the majority of cases, benign moles are removed for cosmetic reasons to improve appearance, especially if the moles are located on the face, neck, arms or legs.
Moles may also be removed if they itch or become irritated due to clothing, jewelry or activity. In some cases, moles are removed for biopsy if skin cancer, such as melanoma, is suspected.
How much does it cost?
A consultation with our experienced one of our consultants is required to assess the mole. A single mole removal and assessment is available for £300. Additional moles can be removed for £125 per mole within the same appointment. For larger areas of your skin, you may be advised to see our dermatologist.
Consultations for see the dermatologist in a full appointment are priced at £225.
*The only other charges are when the dermoscope and assessment show the mole to be suspicious. The dermatologist will advise if he feels laboratory analysis is appropriate in which case an additional charge of £99.00 is required.
