Katie Price’s plastic surgery obsession: What’s next?

Katie Price, British media personality and former glamour model, recently made headlines once again for undergoing her 17th boob job surgery and her 6th face lift. The 43 year old star, known for her ever-changing appearance, and still not stopping, has been open about her numerous cosmetic procedures over the years.

What is a boob job?

A Breast Enlargement, augmentation or ‘boob job’ is one of the most frequently requested cosmetic procedures in the UK. Breast Enlargement surgery involves placing breast implants between the breast tissue and chest muscle or behind the chest muscle depending on your desired outcome.

During a free of charge consultation your chosen surgeon will discuss all of the options available to you. Lots of women choose to have this procedure to increase the fullness, size and shape of their breasts and to enhance their overall appearance.

Some women are naturally flat chested and want bigger breasts, while others have lost volume from their breasts following pregnancy or weight loss. Whatever the reason is, we are here for you every step of the way to make sure you get the support and information you need.

What is a face lift?

The most visible signs of ageing often appear on our faces and can affect our mood, confidence and self-esteem. A Face Lift is a surgical procedure that can target a number of concerns on the face, typically by using a combination of techniques to tighten muscles, remove excess fat/skin, and “re-drape” the facial skin, resulting in a younger and refreshed appearance.

We see lots of women over fifty who are considering this procedure to achieve a more youthful appearance and help them to feel more confident. We offer the latest facelift techniques including the ‘Deep Plane Face Lift’ which is performed by one of our expert facial surgeons Mr Raghavan.

To achieve the best results possible, our patients often consider a combined Face and Neck Lift procedure, or opt for a Blepharoplasty procedure at the same time. Our expert plastic surgeons and facial cosmetic surgeons can discuss all of the options with you during a free -of-charge consultation.

Following facial surgery patients tell us they look and feel 8-12 years younger and that the surgery has had a positive impact on their self-esteem.

The decision to undergo a 17th boob job has sparked debate among fans and critics alike. Some have expressed concern for her well-being, but also questioned the message it sends out across social media. But, what are the risks of Price undergoing her 17th procedure?

Pall Mall’s very own Consultant Breast Oncoplastic and Aesthetic Surgeon, Mr Hussain, discussing  the potential risks and complications: “After surgery, time is needed to help the body recover – each additional surgery increases the overall risk on the body and could lead to chronic pain and increased discomfort. Breast surgery may also lead to temporary changes in nipple sensation; some women may experience hypersensitivity, while others may find their nipples are less sensitive. After 17 boob jobs, Katie will be at risk of this area being completely numb.

Repeated surgeries can also increase the risk of infections and can lead to excessive scar tissue and tissue damage which can be aesthetically unpleasing as well as increasing the risk of complications. With each surgery, there could also be implant-related issues such as implant rupture or leakage and implant malposition.”

Talking about the side effects and risks of going under general anaesthetic frequently, Mr Hussain continued:

“Not only should  we consider the risks associated with the surgery itself,, we also need to look at the risks of having multiple general anaesthetics. Most side effects happen immediately after your operation and do not last long -  these include: feeling sick or being sick – this usually happens immediately, although some people may continue to feel sick for up to a day, shivering and feeling cold – this may last a few minutes or hours, confusion and memory loss – this is more common in older people or those with existing memory problems; it's usually temporary, but occasionally can be longer lasting, bladder problems – you may have difficulty passing urine, dizziness – you will be given fluids to treat this, bruising and soreness – this may develop in the area where you were injected or had a drip fitted; it usually heals without treatment.

On top of the clinical risks, there’s also the emotional stress of undergoing several surgeries and the financial burden to consider. All things considered, it’s important that Katie and any patient considering multiple surgeries, choose a reputable provider and experienced surgeon for their consultations & surgery and make sure they carefully weigh up the risks and benefits as well as the long -term implications for their health and well-being.

Overall, Katie Price’s 17th boob job and 6th face lift,  and counting, has us all wondering when she is going to stop and the price she might have to pay if she doesn’t.
