What is gynaecomastia?
Gynecomastia, more commonly known as man boobs, affects around 15% of adult men in the UK and is a result of excess fat developing in the chest area.
Male chest reduction surgery helps to remove excess fat or tissue on the chest, giving you a flatter, more masculine appearance. You can develop gynaecomastia by using bodybuilding drugs in the gym or following weight loss. Patients who have lost a considerable amount of weight may require a more complex procedure.
At Pall Mall, our GMC registered surgeons have carried out thousands of these procedures, so you can rest assured that you are in the best possible hands. During a free consultation at one of our clinics in Manchester, Liverpool or Newton-Le-Willows you can talk through the procedure in detail and what can be achieved.

What happens during
breast enlargement surgery?
From your first call or email, we’re here to look after you. Whether you're still researching about male chest reduction surgery and would like more information, or you're ready to meet a surgeon to see what results you can achieve, our team of patient co-ordinators are here for you.
At Pall Mall we pride ourselves at being with you on every step of your journey and therefore before you undergo male chest reduction surgery there are a number of steps that we take. Primarily, at the consultation, the surgeon will ask you about your medical history and examine your chest area.
Your surgeon will ask you about your desired outcome, giving you a better idea of exactly what you want, the surgery itself and any risk that may be involved.
A nurse will perform a series of checks on your health prior to your surgery, so we request that you come in for an appointment. Here you will be checked for MRSA as well as possible undertaking a urine or blood test. We just want to make sure there are no complications further down the line and calm any nerves or anxieties you might have!
Your surgeon will also check your chest and take photos so that we have a medical record before the changes occur. Please use this opportunity to ask any questions or raise any concerns and our amazing team will be happy to help.
When the day of your surgery arrives you will be greeted at the hospital by our staff and shown to your comfortable and spacious room. They'll be a quick check-up to make sure you're feeling well and healthy enough for the operation and then you'll be taken to theatre for the surgery.
The operation, will then take place, removing the access skin to give you a flatter, more masculine chest.
After this surgery, you will be able to go home on the same day. We will also arrange for you to come in for further appointments after one week, two weeks and six weeks. This way we can manage your progress and also give you the support so you don't feel alone and anxious about any complications.
Please bear in mind that everyone recovers at their own rate, but avoid your normal activities for at least 2 weeks.
Our aftercare programme put you at the centre and our staff are committed to helping you at every stage of your recovery. We'll be in contact with a 24/7 support line to connect you to our industry-leading nurses and make sure you are completely happy with your surgery.
