What is ear syringing?

What causes the wax build-up and blocked ears?

If you produce excessive amounts of earwax, and also use cotton buds, earplugs or a hearing aid, then the wax can become compacted into the ear canal – and that can be very uncomfortable and frustrating.

If your ears are blocked with wax you may experience muffled hearing and persistent ringing. Don't ‘prod and poke’ – you might make it worse, pushing the wax further into the ear canal.

Do I need to do anything before I attend my appointment?

Use ear drops to soften the wax at least 5 days before coming into our ear cleaning clinic. This will make it easier for the doctor to remove the build-up, failure to soften the wax can result in perforating the eardrum.
