When will I get my results?

Most test results are sent by email in 2 hours, some specific tests may take a little longer completed within 48 hours and most results will be back with to the doctor who asked for the blood to be taken within a week. Some tests take longer than others but your doctor will advise you. 

Who will take my blood test?

A doctor, nurse or phlebotomist (specially trained to take blood samples). 

What is a fasting blood test?

This type of blood test requires that you avoid eating or drinking anything 12 hours before your test. Your GP, nurse or health professional will advise you if that is the case.

What if I'm on medication?

Please tell the GP or nurse know if you are taking any medication that thins your blood such as Warfarin or Aspirin.

Does a blood test hurt?

Most people feel little or no discomfort and the GP or nurse will do their best to put you at your ease.

Will my arm or hand bruise after blood has been taken?

Some people experience a little bruising however it is usually harmless and fade away. However, if you’re worried please contact the GP or nurse.
