What is a Full Body MRI Scan?

An MRI scan uses strong magnetic fields and radio waves to produce detailed images of the inside of the body. A Full Body Scan allows us to produce these images for different areas of the body, helping to diagnose a range of medical conditions accurately. This ultimately leads to more effective treatment for patients suffering from conditions affecting the brain, spine, and nervous system.

At Pall Mall, we offer Full Body MRI Scans at our CQC-registered private hospital, with no long waiting lists or the need for an NHS referral. With our end-to-end support, you can receive a diagnosis and treatment plan within a few days. When you choose Pall Mall, you will benefit from the highest levels of patient care.

You will receive a full report that explains the findings in detail

How long until I get my results?

Following the MRI scan, your radiologist will review the images and create a report which will then be reviewed by one of our Pall Mall GP’s, who will discuss the results with you.

We aim to process all reports within no more than 14 working days but sometimes may take longer. Please don’t worry if your results take longer than 14 days to be delivered; this does not automatically mean that there’s anything concerning showing up in your results.

When your results are ready, you will receive a full report that explains the findings in detail. If any follow up appointments or tests are needed, they will be detailed in the report. If you're confused by your results or would simply like to discuss the findings further, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us.

Frequently asked questions

Our expert team is always on hand to help answer any queries and arrange appointments with our specialist consultants.

Should I be worried if I need an MRI?

A doctor or consultant usually recommends an MRI if they want to take a closer look at certain areas of your body. We understand that this can cause some anxiety, but it is usually thought to be for the greater good in the long run so should not be anything to worry about.

How long does a full body MRI scan take?

A full body scan can take anywhere from 30 minutes to two hours. You will be informed of how long your scan will take when booking your appointment.

Is an MRI scan painful?

As an MRI scan is a non-invasive procedure, no anaesthesia or pain relief is required. However, if you have claustrophobia or are particularly nervous, you can request some sedation. Please let us know your preference ahead of your procedure date.

Can anyone have an MRI?

Although an MRI is considered a safe procedure, it may not be recommended for certain people. If any of the following apply to you, we advise you consult with us for an alternative procedure:

  • A cochlear implant

  • Any metal in your body (like a pacemaker)

  • Experienced allergic reactions to similar procedures previously

  • Kidney problems

  • Pregnant or breastfeeding

How long do I have to wait for my MRI results?

Here at Pall Mall, we aim to process our reports within 14 days. However, sometimes operational processes can delay this. Please do not worry, if there are any delays, we will keep you in the loop. It does not automatically mean something is wrong with your results.

How do I decide which brain and body package is right for me?

To choose the right MRI package, consider your health goals, budget, and concerns. The Silver package covers key areas of the body like the head, neck, and abdomen; Gold adds spinal scans, and Platinum includes comprehensive tests like ECGs and bloodwork. Contact us on 0161 832 2111 for guidance.

Is an MRI safe?

Substantial research has been undertaken as to whether the magnetic properties and radio signals during an MRI used can cause issues to the human body. No evidence has been found to indicate there is a risk. Additionally, MRI is a non-invasive procedure, making it one of the safest options available.

Can I get additional areas of the body scanned?

Yes. If you would like to get tests for other areas of the body that aren't included, please mention this to your specialist at one of your consultations.
