What is a Neck MRI scan?

A Neck MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) uses powerful magnets and radio waves to create detailed images of the cervical spine, spinal cord, nerves, blood vessels, muscles, and soft tissues of your neck.

Unlike X-rays or CT scans, MRI does not use radiation - making it a safe, non-invasive way to detect conditions such as herniated discs, nerve compression, swollen lymph nodes, thyroid abnormalities, and soft-tissue tumours.

Why you might need a Neck MRI

You may benefit from a neck MRI scan if you have any of the following symptoms:

  • Persistent or unexplained neck pain

  • Numbness, tingling, or weakness in your shoulders or arms

  • Neck stiffness or limited movement

  • A lump or swelling in the neck (possible lymph node or thyroid issue)

  • History of injury, infection, or tumour in the neck region

  • Concern about spinal cord compression or nerve entrapment

A neck MRI can help your doctor quickly identify what’s causing your symptoms and guide the best treatment plan.
