An MRI arthrogram is a medical imaging procedure that is used to evaluate the condition of joints. Pictures of a joint are taken after it has been injected with a contrast material which affects the local magnetic field within the joint, allowing a radiologist to see the soft tissue structure of a joint.
Arthrographic images can help your consultant to pinpoint the cause of your joint pain by highlighting changes in the structure and function of a joint. Once fully evaluated, your consultant can determine the best course of treatment for your joint, including arthroscopy (keyhole surgery), open surgery or replacing the joint.
