Pall Mall Medical has expert urology consultants on-hand who can guide you through the cystoscopy process, which is used to investigate potential health problems with the bladder.
A cystoscopy is an examination of the inside of the bladder, the organ that stores urine in the body. Depending on your symptoms, you will be offered a flexible or rigid cystoscopy, which are named after the form of cystoscopes that are used in each procedure.
During a flexible cystoscopy, your consultant will use a bendable, tube-like telescope, which is very thin and can be passed up the urethra and into the bladder. A rigid cystoscopy is done using a rod-like instrument with a light and a camera lens at the tip.
Our consultant urologists carry out both types of procedure at Pall Mall Medical in order to diagnose and treat conditions of the urinary system. Some people may also require an examination with a cystoscope in order to have a routine check-up for certain bladder conditions. Common symptoms investigated during a cystoscopy include blood in the urine, abnormal urine tests, pain when passing urine and incontinence, amongst many other conditions.
If you would like to book a private cystoscopy at Pall Mall Medical, you will first need to have a consultation with one of our urologists. The surgeon will explain the process and which procedure is most suitable for you. The cystoscopy will then follow at our private diagnostic and surgical centre in Newton-le-Willows, performed by a consultant urologist.
A consultation with a consultant who performs this procedure is required in the first instance, who will then arrange for the procedure to take place at one of our locations.
