A blood test is the best way to discover why you may be feeling unwell. By analysing your blood in different ways, we can gain insights into a wide range of medical conditions. This helps our GPs make an accurate diagnosis and develop an effective treatment plan.

Private Blood Tests
Tell us what you're experiencing, and we’ll find the right test for you.
Feeling Tired
If someone is feeling constantly tired, blood tests can help identify common medical causes such as anaemia, thyroid issues, vitamin deficiencies, or hormonal imbalances. Here are the key blood tests usually recommended 👇
Poor Sleep
For poor sleep or ongoing sleep problems, blood tests can help identify underlying medical or hormonal causes that may be affecting sleep quality, energy, or circadian rhythm.
Hairloss
For hair loss, blood tests are very helpful because many causes are nutritional, hormonal, or medical and treatable once identified.
Allergic reactions
These tests are especially helpful if you have:
Recurrent rashes, hives, itching
Swelling of lips, face, or eyes
Food-related symptoms (bloating, diarrhoea, nausea, eczema)
Ongoing hay fever, sinus issues, asthma-type symptoms
Reactions with no obvious trigger
Skin Problems
For bad or problematic skin (acne, eczema, rashes, pigmentation, dryness, itching, breakouts, or slow healing), blood tests are often very helpful because skin issues are commonly driven by hormones, inflammation, deficiencies, or allergies.

Why have a private blood test?
A blood test is the best way to discover why you may be feeling unwell. By analysing your blood in different ways, we can gain insights into a wide range of medical conditions. This helps our GPs make an accurate diagnosis and develop an effective treatment plan.
At Pall Mall, you can make an appointment when it suits you. You can decide which tests you want, with advice from your private GP. And you’ll usually receive your results within 24 hours. You can have a blood test without a referral from your NHS doctor and if anything shows up that needs further investigation or treatment, we can arrange an appointment with one of our own specialist consultants if you choose.
You’ll be seen by a GP, nurse or trained practitioner, who will make sure you’re comfortable and put you at your ease.
When will I get my results?
Most common tests can have results returned within 24 - 48 hours, though some tests can take longer than others. We can advise you on the likely time you will receive results upon booking - please enquire online.
How do I know if I need a private blood test?
There are many reasons why you might choose to have a private blood test, including a family history of disease, a chronic condition, a need to monitor treatments and/or medication, or to check for high-risk diseases and diagnose unknown symptoms.
As part of a general health screen
Detect predisposition or risk for hereditary diseases
Identify underlying conditions
Monitor chronic conditions e.g. coeliac disease
Track treatment effectiveness
Check for high-risk diseases e.g. cardiovascular disease or breast cancer
Manage medication effectiveness e.g. thyroid medication
Diagnose unknown symptoms or provide peace of mind
For businesses, monitor employee health
How can blood tests help you understand your health?
Blood tests are not only a way of helping to monitor pre-existing conditions, but they can also shed light on your overall health, and even help discover any asymptomatic or underlying conditions before they become a problem.
Understand your current level of health
Even if you are not experiencing symptoms or signs of an illness, it is still crucial that you get routine blood tests to help you make sense of your health status.
Understand your hormone and vitamin levels
Understanding your hormone and vitamin levels can help you and your doctor implement a plan for keeping these levels balanced, such as with the recommendation or prescription of supplements to correct any deficiencies.
Understand the symptoms you are experiencing
If you are not feeling well and have been experiencing headaches, fatigue, and other unusual symptoms, your doctor will most likely recommend for you to have a preliminary blood test. The results of the test can show a great deal of information about your health and wellbeing and, should anything be flagged up, your doctor will discuss the best plan of action.
Understand how effective treatment has been
If you're undergoing treatment for a medical condition, blood tests can reveal how effective it has been by measuring whether specific levels have increased or decreased in response to the treatment.
How often should you have a blood test?
How often you need blood work to be done is dependent on your overall health, the purpose of the test itself, and what type of blood test it is. The standard recommendation is once a year - however, certain factors must be considered.
For example, should you have a pre-existing condition, you may need to have your blood tested more regularly, such as once every 3 or 6 months.
Most blood tests only take a few minutes to complete, and it is recommended that you speak to a GP to discuss your individual medical profile and how often your appointments should be made.
