Pall Mall Cosmetics | Boob Job Newton-Le-Willows

What is breast enlargement surgery?

A breast enlargement, augmentation or ‘boob job’ is one of the most frequently requested cosmetic procedures in the UK. Breast enlargement surgery involves placing breast implants between the breast tissue and chest muscle or behind the chest muscle depending on your desired outcome. During a free of charge consultation your chosen surgeon will discuss all of the options available to you.

Lots of women choose to have this procedure to increase the fullness, size and shape of their breasts and to enhance their overall appearance. Some women are naturally flat chested and want bigger breasts, while others have lost volume from their breasts following pregnancy or weight loss. Whatever the reason is, we are here for you every step of the way to make sure you get the support and information you need.

If you choose Pall Mall Cosmetics you will get complete peace of mind knowing that our consultant breast surgeons carry out more breast enlargements than any other procedure and that the procedure is carried out in our own private hospital so you’re never out of our care, unlike other providers.

What happens during breast enlargement surgery?

From your first call or email, we’re here to look after you. Whether you’re still researching breast enlargement surgery and would like more information, or you’re ready to meet a surgeon to see what results you can achieve, our team of Patient Co-ordinators are here to help.

Free Consultation

At Pall Mall we pride ourselves at being with you on every step of your journey and therefore before you undergo Breast Enlargement surgery there are a number of steps that we take. Primarily, at the consultation, the surgeon will ask you about your medical history and examine your chest area.

There will then be a discussion about the different sizes available to you as well as the types of implants. This will take around 20-45 minutes, at which point you will have a better idea of exactly what you want, the surgery itself and any risk that may be involved. The surgeon will discuss and provide you with their expert knowledge and recommendations on how to achieve your desired look, with different implant sizes and profiles.

Our goal is to make it as easy and safe as possible for you to arrange a free breast augmentation consultation in Manchester, Leeds, Liverpool or Newton-le-Willows. All of our surgeries are carried out at our privately owned Pall Mall hospital in Newton-le-Willows.

For our patients’ convenience, we have clinics in accessible locations. You can benefit from a city-centre setting for Manchester, Leeds or Liverpool breast implant surgery, while our Newton-le-Willows site is only about a ten-minute walk away from Earlestown railway station.

Pre-Operation

A nurse will perform a series of checks on your health prior to your surgery, this will be face to face at our private hospital in Newton-le-Willows and is mandatory before any surgery can take place. Here you will be checked for MRSA as well as possibly undertaking a urine or blood test. We just want to make sure you are fit and healthy enough to undergo general anaesthetic and have surgery carried out as your safety is our upmost priority.

Note: You should inform your nurse on any medications you are taking. If you smoke you will be advised to stop a minimum of 2 weeks before surgery. The nurse will also advise you on the best possible way to prepare for your surgery, such as: no flying a week before, removing acrylic nails and removing piercings etc.

Your surgeon will also check your chest and take photos so that we have a medical record before the changes occur. Please use this opportunity to ask any questions or raise any concerns and our amazing team will be happy to help.

Surgery

When the day of your surgery arrives you will be greeted at the hospital by our staff and shown to your comfortable and spacious room. They’ll be a check-up of your blood pressure to make sure you’re feeling well and healthy enough for the operation and then you’ll be taken to the theatre for the surgery.

The operation, which will take around two hours, will then begin and the implants you have selected will be placed either behind or infront of the breast muscle.

Post-Surgery

After this surgery, you will be able to go home on the same day however you’ll be required to wear a complimentary Macom bra for several weeks to help your breasts heal and stay firmly in place. We will also arrange for you to come in for further appointments post operation. This way we can manage your progress and also give you the support so you don’t feel alone and anxious about any complications.

Please bear in mind that everyone recovers at their own rate, but avoid your normal activities for at least 2 weeks.

Aftercare

Our aftercare programme puts you at the centre and our dedicated patient experience team are committed to helping you at every stage of your recovery. We’ll be in contact with a 24/7 support line to connect you to our industry-leading nurses and make sure you are completely happy with your surgery. We encourage you to visit us as much as you need to post-op, we also have a clinical team on hand to answer any questions.

Types of Breast Enlargement Surgery

There are many different types of breast enlargement surgery - and you’ll find a certain degree of overlap between them. This is why it’s important to be selective about exactly what type of treatment you opt for, as results will differ.

Breast Augmentation doesn't need to be on it's own, it can be part of a multi-part procedure, common combinations may include an augmentation with uplift (mastopexy) or re-augmentation (which is implant removal and replacement with a fresh set). Breast augmentation can also be carried out as part of a larger 'mummy makeover' where a breast augmentation will be accompanied by a tummy tuck and liposuction.

For example, you could combine a breast lift with the augmentation option of implants, allowing you to make your breasts not only perkier but also physically larger. Or, if your breasts aren’t as symmetrical as you’d like and you wish for them to be reshaped, you might opt to have the larger breast reduced in size to match. Our expert surgeons can help you make an informed decision based on your unique circumstances during your consultation. With extensive experience behind them, our team can help you achieve your desired look and the results you want to see.

Chloe & Megan, Breast Enlargement Patients

Breast Implants

A cosmetic surgeon can use breast implants for the purpose of breast enlargement or reshaping. You could even arrange for an implant to be inserted into just one of your breasts - for example, if it is noticeably smaller than the other breast and you want your chest to look more even.

Our surgeons use reputable and safe implant brands such as Mentor, B-Lite and Motiva to ensure the highest quality and best results. You’ll discuss at the consultation stage the shape you aim to achieve, which will thus inform our choice of implant profile.

At Pall Mall, you will be given a general anaesthetic during the surgical procedure. This means that you will remain in a state of controlled unconsciousness during the surgical treatment.

While under general anaesthetic, you will not be aware when the breast implant surgery is taking place, though you will be closely monitored by our expert anaesthetists and the whole time. You will not feel pain from any surgical procedure that is used on you in the process. The anaesthetic will also prevent you from moving during the surgery, making it safer.

For each breast, the operation itself will involve the following steps:

- Making an incision in the skin close to the breast

- Positioning the implant under the breast skin (either in front of or behind the chest muscle)

- Stitching the incision

- Covering the stitches with a dressing

We generally recommend you take 1-2 weeks off work after a breast enlargement treatment.

Following the surgery, you should also avoid driving for at least a week and engaging in strenuous exercise or heavy lifting for at least a month. However, you should still pursue gentle exercise, like short walks!

For further guidance on how to ease your post-procedure recovery, check out our in-depth article on how to manage at home after breast enlargement surgery.

Breast Augmentation

If your heart is set on breast augmentation with implants, you will be given all the information you need to ensure you are confident with your decision.

When you have your initial free consultation with us, we will talk you through the types of breast implants in detail. We know how important it is that you choose the right type of breast implant, and our surgeons will be able to show you the implants alongside a portfolio of previous work to ensure you are confident in your decision.

Breast Reconstruction & Reshaping

The British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (BAPRAS) has stated: ‘Every woman having treatment for breast cancer, and for whom reconstruction is an option, should have the opportunity to discuss reconstruction with a plastic surgeon even if it means going to another hospital to have it.’

Breast reconstruction surgery involves rebuilding the appearance of a breast, usually in a woman who has had surgical treatment for breast cancer. This treatment often includes a mastectomy where one of the breasts is partially or entirely removed.

If you’ve had a mastectomy, we can give you renewed self-confidence through rebuilding the breast so that, in size and shape, it resembles your other breast as closely as possible. We can undertake this surgery through any of the following means:

  • Replacing breast tissue with an implant
  • Using tissue taken from elsewhere on your body
  • Using both your own body tissue and an implant

If your breasts are quite large and one of them needs to be partially removed, you might be a viable candidate for breast reshaping treatment where we would be able to reshape the remaining breast tissue and create a smaller but visually more ‘complete’ breast.

In the same surgery session, we could reduce your other breast’s size to bring it into line with the size of the reshaped breast. Alternatively, you could simply arrange for this breast reduction treatment to take place at a later time.

If you feel your breasts are looking flat or droopy due to childbirth, weight loss or the ageing process, we also offer the breast reshaping service of breast uplift surgery, otherwise known as mastopexy. This removes excess skin from the breasts and lifts them.

Breast Uplift

A breast uplift (or mastoplexy) is a breast surgery that reshapes and improves the appearance of the breast without implants.

As we age, the skin all over our body becomes looser and less elastic, which can result in the appearance of “sagging” skin. This can result in changes to the breast shape including:

- Lengthening of the breast

- The appearance of sagging or a “drop” in the breast tissue

- Movement of the nipple position

- Movement of breast tissue

- The appearance of smaller breasts

- Discomfort and back pain

Who is suitable for breast enlargement surgery?

Breast enlargement surgery is suitable for various women, but we can assess this when you speak to our experts for further guidance. it is generally recommended for women who are unhappy with the size, shape or symmetry of their breasts, or for those who have lost breast volume due to weight loss, pregnancy or breastfeeding.

We must emphasise that, though breast augmentation surgery will change your appearance, it cannot do so drastically - or, for that matter, fix body image issues. You should therefore wait until you are in a healthy frame of mind before you decide whether to proceed with this surgery.

The decision you do make on breast augmentation surgery should be a strictly personal choice, and one you genuinely believe will benefit you in the long term. You are likely to be a good candidate for breast augmentation surgery from Pall Mall if you have:

  • Sagging breasts
  • Congenital breast asymmetry
  • A flat bust
  • Elongated breasts
Good physical health

In order for you to go ahead with breast augmentation surgery it is important that you are in good physical health.

Rest assured that, even if you have just had a consultation with us and decided to go ahead with breast augmentation surgery from Pall Mall, we will assess your health at an appointment before this surgery is scheduled to take place.

That way, we can pick up on health issues that could potentially lead to complications if not resolved before the kind of breast augmentation surgery you seek actually happens.

We put you at the heart of everything we do

Why might you choose breast enlargement at Pall Mall? Common concerns from our patients.

Choosing a CQC registered surgery provider is paramount to receiving premium care without compromise. Here at Pall Mall, we’re proud to be CQC registered and our surgeons are also GMC registered.

We have private consultation clinics located in Liverpool, Manchester, Leeds and Newton-le-Willows. However, no matter where you choose to receive Pall Mall breast augmentation consultation treatment, you will see the surgeon that will carry out your procedure should you decide to proceed. The initial consultation will help you discern the right kind of breast enhancement for you.

We are experienced in rectifying all of the following common aesthetic issues for which previous Pall Mall patients have sought breast augmentation surgery.

Small Breasts

It is thought that, usually, a woman’s breasts will have stopped growing by the time she reaches adulthood. But - even beyond this threshold, breasts can continue to fluctuate in form. The factors at play here can include age, hormones and medical conditions.

While you have probably heard plenty of stories about many women’s breasts growing unexpectedly large as a result of pregnancy, it’s not guaranteed - with some women being disappointed at how pregnancy has changed their chest.

In any case, if you are uncomfortable with having small breasts and we agree to proceed with your breast implant surgery, we would advise you to select an implant size that will suit your specific body type.

Sagging breasts

It is very common for breasts to sag, a condition called breast ptosis. The signs of sagging breasts can include:

  • Breasts appearing to sit relatively low on the chest
  • Nipples pointing downwards
  • Lost volume in the top of the breast

Sagging breasts can have various causes, including:

  • Age-related lessening of tightness in the breasts
  • Gravity
  • Pregnancy
  • Hormone changes
  • Weight gain and weight loss

Contrary to popular belief, breastfeeding a baby does not contribute heavily to breast sagging, with research having found pregnancy-related changes in breast size to be a more influential factor.

Larger breasts tend to be more vulnerable to sagging, which is one reason why you might want to consider having a breast reduction consultation at Pall Mall. However, even smaller breasts will eventually lose fullness.

Asymmetrical Breasts

If you have asymmetrical breasts, one of them will be different to the other in size, volume, form or position. More than half of all women are affected by breast asymmetry, which can derive from a number of causes.

For example, when you are ovulating, your breast tissue can look larger as a result of water retention and blood flow. However, you will naturally return to your normal breast size during your menstrual cycle.

Still, if you are experiencing symptoms of breast cancer, such as chest pain or nipple discharge, you should have an examination by a medical professional as soon as possible. We offer a breast ultrasound service at our Newton-le-Willows private hospital.

Loss of Breast Volume

As oestrogen levels drop, breast tissue can reduce in elasticity - leading, in turn, to a loss of breast volume. Your breasts could lose as much as a cup size as they become less voluminous. In women, oestrogen levels can fall due to any of the following:

  • Menopause
  • Childbirth
  • Polycystic ovary syndrome
  • Low body weight
  • Thyroid disorders

If you’ve had a boob job in the past, but now you’re noticing changes, it might be that your implant has been affected over time, or that it was initially not placed correctly. Breast sagging after previous breast augmentation surgery can happen when the breast skin and underlying tissue are no longer able to keep the implant firmly in its intended place, leading the implant to slide down past the crease.

When breast implants bottom out, it is often because the woman lacks natural tissue and skin coverage. However, if you originally received your breast implant surgery from a provider other than Pall Mall, the location where the implant was inserted might not have been chosen with sufficient care.

Keep in mind that, no matter where you receive breast enlargement surgery, you should anticipate needing to have your implants replaced every ten years.

Frequently Asked Questions.

Our expert team are always hand to help, advise and arrange appointments with our specialist consultants.

What happens during breast enlargement surgery?

Breast augmentation/enlargement surgery requires an incision to be made in the breast so that a surgical grade implant can be inserted behind or in front of the chest muscle, underneath the natural tissue. When the implant is in position, the incision will be closed with stitches, and depending on the patient’s individual circumstances, these may dissolve or may need removing at your first pre-operative appointment in clinic.

The procedure requires going under general anaesthesia and is expected to take between approximately 60 minutes, depending on the extent of surgery required.

What happens on the day of breast enlargement surgery?

When the day of your surgery arrives you will be greeted at the hospital by our staff and shown to your comfortable and spacious room. They’ll be a quick check-up to make sure you’re feeling well and healthy enough for the operation and then you’ll be taken to theatre for the surgery.

The operation, which will take two hours, will then begin and the implants you have selected will be placed either behind or infront of the breast muscle.

What happens during breast enlargement surgery pre-op?

A nurse will perform a series of checks on your health prior to your surgery, so we request that you come in for an appointment. Here you will be checked for MRSA as well as possibly undertaking a urine or blood test. We just want to make sure there are no complications further down the line and calm any nerves or anxieties you might have!

Your surgeon will also check your chest and take photos so that we have a medical record before the changes occur. Please use this opportunity to ask any questions or raise any concerns and our amazing team will be happy to help.

What happens during breast enlargement surgery post-op?

After this surgery, you will be able to go home on the same day however you will be required to wear a sports bra for several weeks to help your breasts settle. We will also arrange for you to come in for further appointments after one week, two weeks and six weeks. This way we can manage your progress and also give you the support so you don’t feel alone and anxious about any complications.

Please bear in mind that everyone recovers at their own rate, but avoid your normal activities for at least 2 weeks.

Our aftercare programme put you at the centre and our staff are committed to helping you at every stage of your recovery. We’ll be in contact with a 24/7 support line to connect you to our industry-leading nurses and make sure you are completely happy with your surgery.

What is a boob job?

Breast augmentation, (commonly called ‘breast enlargement’, a ‘boob job’, or having ‘breast implant surgery’) is a popular cosmetic surgery procedure, making use of breast implants, to help women achieve their ideal size, shape and fullness of breasts.

What breast implants does Pall Mall use?

At Pall Mall Cosmetics we recommend the use of Mentor, the market leaders in terms of breast implants in the UK with both FDA and CE approvals. There is also a range of other implants available.

Your surgeon will discuss the best implant options for your individual cosmetic requirements during a free of charge consultation. If you prefer an alternative brand, the surgeon can talk to you about the pros and cons of the implant and whether it is suitable.

If you decide to proceed with your breast surgery, Pall Mall Cosmetics will arrange for this implant to be selected for your procedure.

Mentor Implant Warranty

Free implant replacement in the rare event of rupture or deflation as part of the Mentor Promise Protection Plan for up to 10 years. You will also receive financial assistance.

Financial assistance for capsular contracture (Baker Grade III/IV), double capsule and late seroma complications for up to 10 years.

Lightweight Implants: B-Lite

We are pleased to be able to offer B-Lite implants. B-Lite implants are up to 30% lighter than other implants and are suitable for women who are active in the gyms or regular partake in other sports. B-Lite implants also often require less recovery time and women endure less pain. If you would like to know more about this option, your surgeon will gladly discuss this with you during the consultation.

How do I choose the size, shape and profile of a breast implant?

Undergoing breast enlargement is an important decision and one that should not be rushed. Part of that decision is to ensure you choose the correct and most appropriate size of breast implant.

Each person is different – a certain size and profile in one person might look completely different in another. Many patients will know a friend or colleague who has had breast enlargement and like their results – again, the implant size/profile they had may not be suitable for you and the look you want to achieve.

During your consultation, your chosen Breast or Plastic Surgeon will:

  • Listen to what you want to achieve
  • Discuss what options exist
  • Recommend what is most suitable for you to achieve the look you are hoping for
  • Show you the options and, using specially designed “sizers”, will give you an idea of the end outcome

Many previous patients of Pall Mall have positively commented how refreshing it is that our Surgeons didn’t simply agree to whatever they wanted – but actually discussed the advantages & disadvantages of each option and recommended what was best and most suitable. Some Surgeons at other clinics will just agree with whatever the patient says – we don’t do this at Pall Mall! It is a huge decision for you and it’s important you understand all the options available to you.

As no two bodies are the same, breast implants come in a variety of sizes to suit different shapes and frames. The two most common shapes of implants are round and anatomical (teardrop shaped). Round implants are generally used to achieve a more dramatic, uplifted look with volume at the upper part of the breast, whereas teardrop shaped implants create a more natural, discreet look.

Another term to look out for when considering implants is ‘profile’. This is a guide to how far the implant will stand out or ‘project’. High and extra high profiles will achieve a larger projection whereas medium and low achieve a more subtle effect.

  • Implant size is measured in cubic centimetres (cc) not bra cup size. Larger implants mean a larger “cc”
  • Implant profile or projection is based on the side profile/distance of the implant from your body
Who are your breast enlargement surgeons?

All of our highly skilled & experienced surgeons go through a rigorous Practising Privileges process at Pall Mall Cosmetics, hold substantive NHS posts across the North West and hold full indemnity insurance.

Our specialist Consultant Plastic & Breast Surgeons are registered with BAPRAS (British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons) and/or BAAPS (British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons) accredited so you receive the gold standard of patient care and a commitment to excellence in aesthetic surgery.

We work with many amazing surgeons for Breast Augmentation & Enlargement:

And more.

Our cosmetic surgery service is consultant-led, meaning you get to meet your chosen surgeon at each and every consultation you require. This will be from the first visit and the same surgeon who will performs your surgery.

Our breast surgeons are highly attentive, providing quality time to answer all of your questions and provide you with a thorough consultation and aftercare service.

When do I need to replace my breast implants?

It is a myth that all implants need to be replaced 10 years after the original procedure. Many women have not needed an implant change 20 years after their original procedure, whereas some may need it in less than 10 years. Implants typically require to be removed and/or replaced if:

  • There is a rupture/deflation of an implant

This is very rare and in such cases, the implant manufacturer will provide free of charge implant replacement and financial contribution to the replacement surgery.  Pall Mall Cosmetics may also waive our surgeon, anaesthetist and hospital fees.

  • Capsular contracture takes place

Again, this is very rare. Should this occur, you may be entitled to free of charge implant replacement and financial assistance from the implant manufacturer. Pall Mall Cosmetics may also waive surgeon, anaesthetist and hospital fees.

  • The appearance of breasts has changed due to: Weight loss / Child-birth / Natural ageing process or a desire to change implant size

Breast Augmentation is a big decision and our surgeons will work with you to ensure you are choosing the optimum size and profile implants for you. However, women sometimes wish to change their implant size & profile in later stages of their life – for various reasons.

At Pall Mall Cosmetics, our surgeons will discuss all aspects of the implants with you – risks of implants, etc. Should you require implant removal or replacement, our team of Patient Coordinators and Surgeons will walk you through the whole process.

What other breast surgery procedures are there?
Why do people have breast enlargements?

Breast enlargement surgery is the most popular cosmetic procedure for women in the UK and indeed worldwide. Each woman has a different reason for wanting the procedure – some may feel their breasts haven’t developed as much as they’d desire, some women believe their breasts are not symmetrical, some women undergo changes to their body that has affected the shape of their breasts, and some women are simply not happy with their breasts!

In our experience, the most common reasons women opt for breast enlargement surgery include:

  • Breasts are underdeveloped or not fully developed – even after puberty
  • Asymmetrical breasts
  • Tubular breasts (tuberous)
  • Post weight loss
  • After pregnancy
  • Simply enhance the shape, size & fullness of existing breasts to achieve the desired look!

For many women, the breasts play a huge part in levels of confidence and self-esteem! After surgery, most women will see numerous psychological benefits, and say that they:

  • Have higher levels of confidence & self-esteem
  • Are able to wear a wider range of clothes that they couldn’t previously wear – strapless dresses, bikinis, bathing suits, new bras…
  • Feel confident to go on holiday, go out with friends, live freely in general!
  • Have an increased feeling of femininity
  • Feel happier with their symmetry of the bust!
Why do I need to go private for breast enlargement surgery?

The NHS does not commonly carry out breast augmentation or enlargement surgery unless there is an associated and significant distress or pain. For this reason, many women choose to have the procedure done at a private healthcare clinic such as Pall Mall Cosmetics. There is no waiting list, and you do not need any referral to have an operation performed.

We can ensure your safety at our CQC (care quality commission) regulated hospital in Newton-le-Willows and city centre clinics in Manchester, Liverpool or Leeds. Our surgeons mostly come from the NHS, so you get the same quality of surgery, but in a safe, clean and professional private clinical environment.

Should I have under or over the muscle breast implants?

Placement: Under the muscle, over the muscle or partial?

Implants can be placed in 3 different locations – under the muscle (“submuscular”), over the muscle (subglandular” or retromammary) or partially below the muscle.

Over the muscle: implants as placed above the pectoral (chest) muscles, yet beneath your skin/fat/glandular tissue. This is often most suitable if you either already have breast tissue or your breasts are deflated and you wish to restore their original shape.

Under the muscle: implants are placed behind the muscle, and is most suitable if you have small breast and little breast fat/tissue. This method of placement may provide a more natural and subtle look, however, it is sometimes more difficult to insert larger breast implants.

Where the implant is placed depends on you and your desired outcome. Each option has its own advantages and each person will be more suited to a particular placement. The surgeon will discuss this in full with you during your consultation.
