Core Responsibilities
As a Bank ward HCA, you will support the maintenance of the clinical ward to ensure the highest possible care is given. To ensure safety and patient care is paramount and to the highest quality.
Duties also include:
Assist our Nursing team in providing exemplary Care within the Ward department, whilst providing Healthcare Assistance to our Nursing team.
As a HCA, duties will include routine tasks related to the delivery of care to ensure our patient’s health and well-being.
You will move and set up equipment (after training) and other resources, as well as applying technology for measurement, monitoring and treatment.
Maintain stock control and careful use of equipment
Ensuring patient comfort, dignity and privacy are maintained at all times and are specific to the patients’ needs.
Chaperoning patients and required equipment as necessary for appointments and clinic.
Ensure strict confidentiality is applied to all clients and staff, ensuring need to know basis is applied at all times.
Communicate care to patients, their family and/or carers using appropriate language and rationale
Assists the registered nurse with appropriate clinical documentation
Reports any concerns to the trained nurse in charge of the patient
Decontamination of instruments and clinical equipment
Quality Improvement
Understand job role and scope and identify how this can be developed over time
Maintain continual professional development in quality improvement, make recommendations on how quality in the organisation can be improved
Raise quality concerns and related risks with the relevant people and re-evaluate to ensure improvements have been made
Agree with others how practice could develop to improve quality and provide the appropriate support as service changes
Clinical Governance
Ensure compliance with policies, procedures and clinical guidelines for self and others
Continually monitor standards of care and contribute to improvement of care, through benchmarking, audit and research.
Communicate effectively and share best practice with the multidisciplinary team & others
To be aware of duties and responsibilities in relation to clinical risk management
