The Silver Brain and Body MRI scan is looking for and is able to detect pathology in the vital organs as follows:

Head / neck 

• Major blood vessel abnormalities
• Evidence of intra cranial pathology or aneurysms 
• Cerebral infarctions or haemorrhage
• Integrity and patency of carotid arteries 
• Tumours, lesions or vascular malformations.

Abdomen

• Large tumours in the liver, kidneys, pancreas, and gall bladder
• Significant liver structural disease (for example large cysts or masses)
• Adrenal tumours
• Abdominal aortic aneurysm
• Malignancy, tumours or obstruction in the liver, kidneys, pancreas, and gall bladder
• Gall stones
• Overview of the gastrointestinal tract for inflammation, large tumours or obstruction
• Assessment of cysts or masses.

Pelvis

• Large tumours or masses involving the uterus, ovaries, or bladder
• Uterine fibroids and endometrial masses or polyps
• Ovarian cysts and ovarian tumours (for female patients)
• Prostate, rectum or bladder pathology, abnormalities or tumours (for male patients)
• Pelvic masses causing pressure or displacement of surrounding structures
• Assessment of the bladder and rectum for signs of pathology or significant structural abnormalities
• Cysts or solid masses within pelvic organs
• Assessment for abnormalities in pelvic bones and soft tissues

The Silver Brain and Body MRI scan does not look for and is not able to detect pathology as follows:

• Heart disease Coronary artery disease, Heart valve disease, rhythm problems, Peripheral vascular disease
• Lung disease, Lung cancer, COPD, asthma, or other chronic lung disease, Chest infections
• Breast cancer, Breast implant complications
• Bowel / digestive Bowel cancer or bowel polyps (requiring a colonoscopy, virtual colonoscopy or ColoAlert), Inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn’s, ulcerative colitis), Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), Small bowel disease, Hernias
• Prostate cancer (requires a blood test or Multi-Parametric Prostate MRI scan)
• Arthritis in hips, knees, ankles, shoulder or other joints (these would require specific joint X-ray or MRI joint by joint)
• Major kidney failure (requires a blood test), Small kidney stones (renal calculus), Bladder function problems
• Early liver disease, Fatty liver, Hepatitis, Alcohol-related liver disease without major structural change
• Gynaecological conditions Endometriosis, Adenomyosis, Pelvic inflammatory disease, Subtle causes of pelvic pain, Fertility-related conditions, Hormonal disorders such as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS)
• Anything not listed in the above able to detect list of vital organs is excluded and not reported on in the MRI scan.
• Cancer in very early stages may not be detected, e.g. very small tumours, cysts or Microscopic disease. Targeted cancer screening may be beneficial if you are worried about a specific type of cancer.

The brain & body scan does not include the heart, lungs, breasts, arms or legs.

The Zigwig Endotest is a saliva-based test that offers a less invasive way to check for endometriosis compared to Laparoscopy. Results typically take around 25 days.

If the test is positive, further laparsocopy may be required for treatment. Although some women can opt for medical management instead.
