The Growing Trend: Facial Cosmetic Surgery for Men

Factors driving the increase

Several converging factors are fuelling this rise in male cosmetic interest, often centered around maintaining a competitive edge both socially and professionally.
The Influence of Digital Culture and Social Media The proliferation of high-definition cameras and social media platforms has placed a greater emphasis on appearance. Men are increasingly exposed to their own images and those of others, often leading to heightened self-scrutiny. The desire to look good in online profiles, video conferences, and public-facing roles is a powerful motivator.
Professional Competitiveness Many men report seeking cosmetic procedures to maintain a youthful, energetic appearance, believing it provides an advantage in the workplace. In a competitive job market, looking refreshed and vital can be equated with being capable and current. Procedures are often chosen to combat signs of aging that might be perceived as fatigue or disconnect.
Normalisation and Accessibility The discussion around cosmetic procedures has become more open. As more celebrities and public figures—both male and female—openly discuss their treatments, the idea of getting "work done" has been normalized. Furthermore, the development of less invasive, non-surgical options has made entry into cosmetic treatments more accessible and less intimidating.

Popular Procedures Among Men

While the overall goal for male facial procedures is often to achieve a subtle, more masculine, and less tired look, the specific procedures vary.

Here is a look at some of the most sought-after facial procedures for men:

Procedure

Description

Goal

Rhinoplasty

Surgical nose reshaping

Improve facial balance and symmetry

Blepharoplasty

Eyelid surgery

Reduce bags, puffiness, and drooping eyelids to look less tired

Facelift

Surgical tightening of facial skin

Smooth deep wrinkles and restore jawline definition

Injectables (Botox/Fillers)

Non-surgical treatments

Smooth forehead lines, crow's feet, and restore volume to cheeks/temples

Jawline Contouring

Surgical or non-surgical enhancement

Create a stronger, more defined jawline and chin

Considerations for Male Patients

Cosmetic surgery for men requires a distinct approach from that for women. Surgeons specializing in male aesthetics prioritize maintaining or enhancing masculine features, such as a strong jawline, a prominent chin, and a defined brow ridge. The objective is revitalization, not feminization.

Prospective patients should ensure they consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon who has extensive experience with male facial anatomy and procedures. The initial consultation, which can be scheduled via Calendar event, should include a detailed discussion about realistic expectations and recovery time.

Looking Ahead

The trend is expected to continue its upward trajectory. As the benefits of aesthetic procedures—such as increased self-confidence and a positive impact on professional life—become more widely recognized, more men will likely explore these options.

Cosmetic surgery for men: What do men really want?

In 2025 alone, over 1,800 men opted for cosmetic surgery. That’s up 70% since 2021. Just a quick look at social media shows a flurry of footage from the Oscars and the Red Carpet, where men look sharp, sleek, refined and gorgeous. And not just celebrities - but social media influencers, too. We can see men of all ages, kitted out with razor-sharp jawlines and cheeks without buccal fat. From Hollywood to the boy next door, it’s fair to say that cosmetic surgery for men is well on the rise.

But what do men *really* want in 2026? Our team of expert surgeons lets you in on their secrets and insider views - what DO men ask for when they’re in the surgeon’s hot seat? Read more in our cosmetic surgery for men: 2026 trends report.

The Growing Trend: Cosmetic Surgery for Men

In recent years, we’ve seen a real shift in cosmetic surgery for men, with more male generations than ever choosing to invest in their appearance. What was once seen as something mainly for women is quickly changing, and the stigma around men having cosmetic surgery and aesthetic treatments is fading.

Fast forward to this year, and men are choosing refinement over drastic change. The goal is to look sharper, fresher, and more put-together, without it being obvious that any ‘work’ has been done.

That’s why experienced surgeons focus on enhancing masculine features, such as a strong jawline, defined chin and structured brow, rather than softening and feminising them.

We’re also seeing a significant rise in demand for anti-ageing procedures. Searches for “facelifts for men” have increased by 2,252% over the past year, according to Google Trends, and facelift procedures themselves are up 26% year-on-year.

At the same time, non-surgical treatments like fillers and Botox for men - lovingly coined “Brotox” - are growing rapidly, offering subtle results with minimal downtime.

Overall, around 1.6 million cosmetic procedures are now performed on men worldwide, accounting for approximately 6–7% of all procedures. The trend is clear: men are becoming more comfortable with aesthetic treatments, with a strong focus on natural, confident results that still look like you.

But why?

The why: The Influence of Digital Culture and Social Media

Men are constantly caught on camera. They’re on Instagram and hopping on quick Zoom calls on a daily basis. They want to look sharp, on-point, and ready for action. What’s more, seeing themselves regularly on screen highlights features they may not have noticed before.

Social-media-wise, men are constantly exposed to images of how the male body and face ‘should’ look.  For example, think about Louis Theroux’s documentary on the Manosphere. The male figures starring in the documentary have perfectly chiselled noses and jawlines, ripped and snatched torsos, and pumped arms. They are incredibly successful financially and in their business lives, and they attribute a lot of this to how they look. Their social following exists because of their features, which inspire men in a non-pressured way.

As a result, more men are choosing cosmetic treatments as a way to feel more confident and in control of their appearance and thus, their lives. For the vast majority of men getting cosmetic surgery and aesthetics, it’s not about a drastic change. Rather, the focus is on subtle improvements… looking fresher, younger, and more defined, both on and off camera.

This shift has played a key role in the rise of male cosmetic procedures, with many patients simply wanting to look as confident as they feel.

Cosmetic surgery for men: What men really want

Now, let’s look at the cosmetic surgery and non-surgical trends for men (2026). We’ve asked our team of consultant surgeons, anaestheticians and clinicians to dish the gossip on what men are asking for this year.

Facelift

This year, cosmetic surgery for men has seen a surge in natural-looking facelifts. We’re talking smooth, sleek and professional looking.

Our expert male facial cosmetic surgery specialist [xxx] says: “More and more male patients are asking for natural cosmetic enhancements. The ones where you can’t tell they’ve had any work done.

“xxx”

Celebrity inspo: Brad Pitt had a subtle facelift in 2015. His smooth and tightly tucked appearance has since been the inspiration for male patients all over the globe.

The data: Data from Pall Mall shows a small but growing number of men opting for rejuvenating facelift surgery. We’re talking deep plane facelifts and MAC facelifts; these procedures go beyond tightening the upper layer to tightening the deep facial muscles for a natural, long-lasting result.

Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)

Blepharoplasty, otherwise known as eyelid surgery or eye bag surgery, has peaked in popularity this year and last. Men are getting the procedure done to look fresher, younger, and more well-rested. Pall Mall reports the surging popularity of the eyelid and eyebag reducing procedure this decade, with enquiries soaring over 350% since 2020.

Pall Mall facial cosmetic surgeon Mr Ullas Raghavan says: “Men are seeking a subtle, fresher appearance. Upper blepharoplasty is the most common facial surgery for men. This procedure targets the upper eyelids to remove excess skin, reduce sagging and create a tighter, more youthful appearance around the outer eye.”

Celebrity inspo: It is speculated that Tom Cruise had blepharoplasty to restore his youthful appearance. During a lower blepharoplasty, the eye bags are removed to reverse early signs of ageing.

Lower blepharoplasty, also known as eyebag surgery, is also growing in popularity as men seek a youthful, fresh appearance. It targets the skin underneath the eyes to reduce eyebags, puffiness and loose skin - all of which add to an aged appearance.

“For men, lower blepharoplasty is usually tailored to maintain a natural, masculine look while avoiding an over-tightened or hollow appearance,” Mr Raghavan tells us.

Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty has long been a popular procedure for men, but this year, we’ve seen a bump in patient numbers. Men are mainly looking for a stronger profile and small corrective tweaks. Think stronger and better facial balance over drastic changes.

Mr Gautham Ullas says: “Men are far more comfortable discussing aesthetic procedures than even five years ago, and the rise of video calls and social media has made profile awareness almost universal. Add to that the recognition that modern rhinoplasty techniques can deliver subtle, masculine results, and the stigma has all but disappeared.”

“Across the board, patients are seeking natural-looking results. Men want to look like the best version of themselves rather than looking ‘done’. While many patients want a bump removed or a straighter nose, we’re increasingly seeing requests for improved symmetry and a stronger overall profile.”

The data: At Pall Mall, [xxx] male patients opted for rhinoplasty surgery in 2025, compared to [xxx] in previous years.

Liposuction

Male body contouring, like liposuction, has been on the rise for the last couple of years. We’re seeing slimmer flanks, flatter tummies, and fewer male love handles.

Our expert body sculpting specialist, Dr Leonardo Fasano, says: “Over the last few years, I’ve seen a clear rise in men seeking liposuction and liposculpture, particularly patients who already train regularly and look after themselves, but still struggle with stubborn areas that don’t respond to diet and exercise.

“Male patients are not looking for exaggerated or obviously surgical results. They typically want sharper flanks, a flatter abdomen, reduced love handles, and a leaner, more athletic-looking shape that still appears natural. The focus now is very much on subtle body contouring that enhances confidence and definition without looking ‘done’.”

Celebrity inspo: Ronnie Ortiz-Magro from Jersey Shore had liposuction in 2019. Ronnie’s famous 6-pack is now admired by men all over, and he continues to be a popular source of inspiration.

The data: At Pall Mall, [xxx] male patients opted for liposuction in 2025, compared to [xxx] in previous years.

Gynaecomastia reduction surgery

This year, men are opting to have gynaecomastia reduction surgery (where fat and tissue is removed from the chest area) to create a slimmer, more toned appearance.

[xxx] says: “xxx”

Celebrity inspo: Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Simon Cowell have both undergone gynaecomastia reduction surgery to address excess fat and glandular tissue, yet continue to be recognised as figures of fitness and confidence.

The data: At Pall Mall, [xxx] male patients opted for gynaecomastia reduction surgery in 2025, compared to [xxx] in previous years.

Botox `Brotox`

Social media has been a place of positive influence this year for male Botox, otherwise known as `Brotox`. To date, the Brotox hashtag has 17 million views.

Our lead aesthetician, Dr Sonia Khorana, says: ““More men are considering Botox now because attitudes around aesthetics have shifted significantly. Treatments are no longer seen as purely cosmetic or taboo, but as part of modern self-care and grooming.”

“Social media has also played a major role in normalising male aesthetic treatments, with men becoming more aware of subtle, preventative options. The biggest change we’re seeing is the demand for natural, refreshed results. Male patients want to look less tired, fresher, and more confident, rather than noticeably treated or frozen.”

Celebrity inspo: Ben Affleck and Matt Damon both admit to regular Botox as a way of addressing fine lines and wrinkles.

The data: At Pall Mall, [xxx] male patients opted for Botox in 2025, compared to [xxx] in previous years.

Key Insights on Upper Blepharoplasty Combinations

  • Combination vs. Standalone:

    • Combined Procedures: 167 cases (64.2%) were performed alongside other surgeries.

    • Standalone Procedures: 93 cases (35.8%) were performed as "Upper Blepharoplasty Alone."

  • Most Common Combinations:

    • Brow Lift: This is the most frequent addition, appearing in 37.7% (98 cases) of all upper bleph procedures. It is often combined with both upper and lower blepharoplasty.

    • Lower Blepharoplasty: Approximately 26.2% (68 cases) of patients undergoing an upper bleph also had a lower blepharoplasty.

    • Face and Neck Lifts: These were combined with upper blephs in 16.9% (44 cases) of the records, often as part of a more comprehensive facial rejuvenation.

  • Other Combinations:

    • A small percentage of cases (3.8%) involved combining upper blepharoplasty with body surgeries such as abdominoplasty (tummy tuck), breast reductions, or liposuction.

    • Occasional combinations with rhinoplasty (nose surgery) and minor procedures like mole removals or lip lifts were also observed.

The following chart illustrates the distribution of these combinations across the dataset.
