Women's Cancer Screening

  • Fast access to tests
  • Avoid NHS delays
  • Peace of mind when you need it

Proactive care for every stage of life

Your health changes throughout your life, and so do your healthcare needs. Whether you're in your 30s, approaching menopause or simply want greater reassurance about your wellbeing, taking a proactive approach to your health can help you feel informed and in control.

Many women choose private cancer screening because they want timely access to tests, expert clinical advice and peace of mind without unnecessary delays.

At Pall Mall Medical, we understand that concerns about cancer can feel overwhelming. That's why our experienced clinical team takes the time to understand your symptoms, medical history and individual risk factors before recommending the most appropriate investigations for you.

Our approach isn't about offering unnecessary tests - it's about providing the right care, at the right time, for the right reasons.

Why consider women's cancer screening?

Cancer can affect women at any stage of life, and while not every cancer can be prevented, recognising potential concerns early may allow for earlier investigation and treatment where necessary.

Women seek private screening for many reasons, including:

  • A family history of cancer

  • Ongoing symptoms they'd like investigated

  • Personal reassurance

  • Changes in their health

  • Routine health monitoring

  • Concerns following menopause

Whatever brings you to us, our priority is providing clear advice, appropriate investigations and compassionate support throughout your healthcare journey.

A Personalised Approach to Your Health

No two women have the same medical history or level of risk.

Rather than offering a one-size-fits-all package, we'll discuss your health, family history, lifestyle and any symptoms you're experiencing before recommending the most appropriate investigations.

Depending on your individual circumstances. Every recommendation is based on your individual needs—not a standard checklist.

Your clinician may recommend:

  • Cancer blood tests
  • Cervical screening
  • Breast assessment
  • Diagnostic imaging
  • Referral for specialist investigations where appropriate

Women's Cancer Screening Services

Ovarian Health Assessment

Ovarian cancer can be difficult to detect in its early stages because symptoms are often vague and easily mistaken for other conditions.

If you're experiencing persistent bloating, pelvic discomfort, changes in appetite or have concerns because of your family history, your clinician may recommend further assessment.

Where clinically appropriate, this may include a CA125 blood test alongside other investigations.

Cervical Screening

Regular cervical screening plays an important role in identifying changes that could require further monitoring or treatment.

If you're due for screening, have experienced abnormal results previously or would prefer a private appointment, our clinical team can advise on the most appropriate next steps.

Breast Health

If you've noticed changes in your breasts or would like advice regarding breast health, our clinicians can assess your symptoms and recommend appropriate investigations or referral where required.

Early assessment of new symptoms is always important.

Cancer Blood Tests

Certain blood tests may provide valuable clinical information when interpreted alongside your medical history, symptoms and any additional investigations.

These tests are not designed to diagnose cancer on their own, but they may contribute to a wider clinical assessment where appropriate.

Your clinician will explain exactly what each test can and cannot tell us before you decide whether it's suitable for you.

Bowel Cancer Screening

Bowel cancer screening helps detect bowel cancer at an early stage, often before symptoms develop, when treatment is more likely to be successful.

Learn who is eligible for screening, the different tests available, what to expect during the process, and how screening can help reduce the risk of bowel cancer through early detection.

Full Body Reassurance scans

Our Full Body Reassurance scans are designed to help you take a proactive approach to your health.

Choose from four comprehensive packages, tailored to the level of reassurance and health insight you need. These scans can help detect cancers, aneurysms, and organ disease at an early stage - often before symptoms develop.

No GP referral is required, and every scan is reviewed by experienced consultant radiologists, giving you expert insight and greater peace of mind.

Alison’s story: Overcoming stage four bowel cancer

Patient Feature: Alison's Story

Alison never imagined that persistent symptoms she had ignored for years would lead to a life-changing diagnosis - stage four bowel cancer at the age of 60. Now cancer-free, she is sharing her journey to raise awareness of the signs and symptoms of the disease.

Alison regretted leaving her symptoms for so long without consulting with an expert, she said:

“Once you get the diagnosis, you then think, I wish I'd have come sooner.”

“Please don’t ignore any symptoms. Even if the symptoms turn out to be harmless, it’s better to be safe than sorry and getting expert advice can help to provide peace of mind.”

After four major surgeries and chemotherapy, Alison eventually rang the bell in August 2022 when she received the all clear.

Understanding women's cancer blood tests

Blood tests can measure substances known as tumour markers that may be associated with certain medical conditions, including some cancers.

However, it's important to understand that these markers can also be affected by non-cancerous conditions, and not every cancer produces detectable tumour markers.

For this reason, blood tests are only one part of a complete clinical assessment.

At Pall Mall Medical, we believe patients deserve honest, balanced information. We'll explain your results clearly, discuss what they mean for you and recommend any further investigations only if clinically appropriate.

When should you seek medical advice?

You should arrange an assessment if you experience symptoms that persist, worsen or feel unusual for you.

Symptoms worth discussing with a healthcare professional include:

  • Persistent bloating

  • Pelvic or abdominal pain

  • Changes in bowel habits

  • Unexpected weight loss

  • Unexplained fatigue

  • Abnormal vaginal bleeding

  • Breast lumps or changes

  • Persistent changes in appetite

These symptoms are often caused by conditions other than cancer, but they should always be assessed if they continue.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can a blood test detect ovarian cancer?

A CA125 blood test may provide useful clinical information in some circumstances, but it cannot diagnose or rule out ovarian cancer on its own. Results must always be interpreted alongside your symptoms, medical history and, where appropriate, further investigations.

Should I have cancer screening if I don't have symptoms?

Some women choose screening because of family history, age or personal reassurance. The most appropriate approach depends on your individual circumstances, which is why we recommend discussing your options with one of our clinicians.

What happens if my results are abnormal?

An abnormal result does not necessarily mean cancer is present. Your clinician will explain your results carefully and recommend any additional investigations that may be appropriate.

How quickly can I get an appointment?

Private appointments are often available sooner than routine healthcare pathways, helping you access assessment and advice without unnecessary delay.
