Making the decision
For June, the decision wasn't about achieving a particular body shape or chasing perfection. It was about feeling comfortable in her own skin.
She spent time researching the procedure, considering her options and discussing what would be realistic for her. One of her concerns was whether she was too old to undergo surgery, but she was reassured that age alone wasn't necessarily a barrier to treatment when someone is otherwise suitable for surgery.
After careful consideration, June decided to go ahead with an abdominoplasty.
The transformation
June underwent her tummy tuck at the age of 60 under the care of Mr Ashour, a GMC-registered breast and body contouring specialist.
Following her procedure, June wore a compression garment and allowed herself time to recover. As the swelling gradually settled and her recovery progressed, she began to see the physical changes taking shape.
But for June, the transformation was about more than her appearance. It was about how she felt in herself after living with her abdominal concerns for 37 years.
Clothes that she had previously avoided became options again. She felt more comfortable wearing figure-hugging clothes and, importantly, no longer felt that she needed to hide her stomach beneath oversized clothing.
For June, undergoing a tummy tuck at 60 marked the beginning of a new chapter - one in which she felt more confident, comfortable and able to dress in a way that reflected how she wanted to feel.
