What are the benefits of Breast Augmentation?
For many of our patients, breast enlargement delivers benefits that extend well beyond size; the most significant improvements are often mental and emotional, leading to a better sense of self-image and personal satisfaction. In our complimentary consultation with a specialist surgeon, we can discuss your unique needs and provide expert, personalised advice on how breast enlargement can achieve your desired aesthetic outcome.

Which Breast Enlargement surgery is right for me?
Breast Enlargement is just one of several types of breast surgery available and you’ll find a certain degree of overlap between them. At your free consultation your surgeon will listen to what you want to achieve from surgery and advise you on the best procedure for you.
Breast Enlargement (Implants)
Our GMC registered cosmetic surgeons can use breast implants to enhance or reshape your breast. As no two bodies are the same, breast implants come in a variety of sizes to suit different shapes and frames. The two most common shapes of implants are round and anatomical (teardrop shaped). Round implants are generally used to achieve a more dramatic, uplifted look with volume at the upper part of the breast, whereas teardrop shaped implants create a more natural, discreet look.
Another term to look out for when considering implants is ‘profile’. This is a guide to how far the implant will stand out or ‘project’. High and extra high profiles will achieve a larger projection whereas medium and low achieve a more subtle effect.
At Pall Mall Cosmetics we recommend the use of Mentor implants, the market leaders in terms of breast implants in the UK with both FDA and CE approvals. There are also other implants available.
Your surgeon will discuss the best implant options for your individual cosmetic requirements during a free, no obligation consultation. If you prefer an alternative brand, the surgeon can talk to you about the pros and cons of the implant and whether it is suitable.
Asher's Surgery specifics: Implant removal and replacement

Breast reconstruction and reshaping
Breast reconstruction surgery involves rebuilding the appearance of a breast, usually in a woman who has had surgical treatment for breast cancer. This treatment often includes a mastectomy where one of the breasts is partially or entirely removed.
If you’ve had a mastectomy, we can give you renewed self-confidence by rebuilding the breast so that, in size and shape, it resembles your other breast as closely as possible.
Breast Uplift
As we age, the skin all over our body becomes looser and less elastic, which can result in the appearance of “sagging” skin. This can result in changes to the breast shape including lengthening of the breast and the appearance of sagging or a “drop” in the breast tissue. A Breast Uplift (or Mastopexy) is a breast surgery that reshapes and improves the appearance of the breast without implants.
Combination surgery
Breast enlargement surgery doesn’t have to be a standalone procedure - it can be combined with other procedures for a more personalised result. For example, pairing a breast enlargement with a breast uplift is a popular option. This combination not only increases breast size but also helps lift and reshape the breasts, giving a more youthful appearance.

Helen Flanagan's Breast Enlargement with Mr Hussain
Helen, 34, chose Pall Mall Cosmetics for breast enlargement surgery after breastfeeding her three children. The Coronation Street actress wanted to restore her pre-pregnancy figure, especially the volume in her breasts, which had lost fullness and begun to sag following pregnancy.
Mr Hussain and Helen collectively decided to opt for 340cc Motiva implants, with a dual plane placement.
“I wanted super natural results, just for them to be perky again, and that’s what I got. I’ve done all the baby stages and it’s nice to be now coming to a place where I can work on myself.”
Thinking About Breast Enlargement?
Everyone’s reason for having breast surgery is different - it might be that you’re naturally flat chested and want to increase the size of your breasts, and enhance their overall appearance, or it might be that you’ve lost the volume from your breasts following pregnancy or weight loss and want to increase the fullness or restore the volume. Whatever the reason is, we’re here for you every step of the way to make sure you get the support and information you need. During a free, no obligation consultation, your chosen surgeon will discuss all of the options available to you.
At Pall Mall, we’re passionate about providing life-changing breast enlargement surgery that makes our patients look - and feel - incredible. Our breast enlargement procedures are carried out to the highest standard by our GMC registered surgeons in our Private Hospital in Newton-le-Willows, conveniently located between Manchester and Liverpool, with two operating theatres, en-suite rooms and free onsite parking.

Breast Enlargement – Clinically Indicated Surgical Treatment
At Pall Mall, breast enlargement is frequently performed for medically valid reasons—specifically for women with breast development abnormalities that negatively impact their health, posture, and daily life. Although often associated with cosmetic enhancement, many of our patients present with conditions that are developmental, functional, or musculoskeletal in nature.
We receive regular referrals from GPs, physiotherapists, clinical psychologists, and breast-care specialists—across both NHS and private sectors—for women experiencing physical discomfort, reduced quality of life, or significant distress due to underdevelopment, asymmetry, deformity, or drooping of breast tissue.
Common Medical Diagnoses Addressed
Breast hypoplasia or aplasia
In these cases, breast tissue is underdeveloped—or entirely absent—on one or both sides, often due to hormonal or structural factors. Patients commonly face issues like ill-fitting clothing, lack of supportive bras, and difficulty engaging in physical activity. The chest may appear flat or uneven, causing compensatory postural habits—such as hunching shoulders or rounding the spine—leading over time to chronic neck/shoulder pain, tension headaches, and spinal dysfunction. Many women subconsciously hide their chest, reinforcing postural strain and discomfort daily.
Tuberous (constricted) breast deformity
This structural condition is characterised by a narrow breast base, restricted tissue, and areolar protrusion. It often becomes more pronounced following pregnancy or weight change. Non-surgical solutions rarely suffice—off-the-shelf padding, bras, or clothing cannot address the tight, band-like breast tissue. Left untreated, symptoms may worsen, leading to painful rubbing, skin breakdown, intertrigo, and musculoskeletal pain linked to altered posture.
Breast asymmetry
While minor differences in breast size are common, clinically significant asymmetry—such as one fully developed breast compared to a hypoplastic or missing counterpart—can cause serious issues. It may lead to muscle imbalances, postural shifts, back strain, and localized tension in the neck and trapezius. Clothing fit and supportive undergarment options are limited, exacerbating functional and physical discomfort. Over time, asymmetry may worsen, contributing to chronic pain and postural dysfunction.
Breast ptosis (drooping)
Sometimes present from birth or early adulthood—often alongside hypoplasia or tuberous shape—ptosis involves varying levels of breast sag. Mild ptosis causes downward traction, cervicothoracic strain, and posture problems. Moderate to severe ptosis frequently leads to skin irritation, chafing, recurrent intertrigo beneath the breast fold, and restrictions in movement over time.
The Need for Surgery: Beyond Aesthetics
In each of these conditions, untreated breast anomalies may lead to:
• Chronic pain and musculoskeletal strain
• Impaired posture and limited physical activity
• Dermatological issues (e.g. skin rashes, intertrigo)
• Delayed breast health monitoring due to embarrassment or anxiety
Breast enlargement surgery can restore balanced volume and structure, relieving muscular compensations and enabling normal movement without pain. Post-surgery, many patients report significant improvement in neck, shoulder, and upper‑back symptoms, as well as posture normalisation.
Why Non-Surgical Alternatives May Fall Short
• Padded bras and prostheses: offer temporary boost but often shift during activity and rarely solve significant asymmetry or structural imbalance.
• Physiotherapy: can improve posture temporarily but cannot undo anatomical deficits. When posture habits are driven by appearance concerns, true correction may be limited.
• Psychological support: beneficial for coping, but does not remove repetitive physical triggers of distress.
Our Clinical Approach
Breast enlargement at Pall Mall is offered as a medically indicated intervention when clear anatomical or functional need is demonstrated. Our assessments are structured to identify clinical indications and to document them thoroughly—often in collaboration with referring clinicians. We support patients throughout the decision-making and recovery journey, positioning the surgery not as a cosmetic luxury, but as a legitimate response to unaddressed medical
Common questions about Breast Enlargement surgery
Our expert team is always on hand to help, advise and arrange appointments with our specialist consultants.
What happens during Breast Enlargement surgery?
Breast Enlargement surgery requires an incision to be made in the breast so that a surgical grade implant can be inserted behind or in front of the chest muscle, underneath the natural tissue. When the implant is in position, the incision will be closed with stitches, and depending on the patient’s individual circumstances, these may dissolve or may need removing at your first pre-operative appointment.
What happens on the day of Breast Enlargement surgery?
On the day of the surgery, you’ll be greeted at the hospital by our staff and shown to your room. There will be a quick check-up to make sure you’re feeling well and healthy enough for the operation and then you’ll be taken to theatre. The operation will take around two hours.
What happens after Breast Enlargement surgery post-op?
After Breast Enlargement surgery, you will be able to go home on the same day. However, you will be required to wear a sports bra for several weeks to help your breasts settle. We will also arrange for you to come in for further appointments after one week, two weeks and six weeks. This way we can manage your progress and also give you the support so you don’t feel alone and anxious about any complications.
Please bear in mind that everyone recovers at their own rate, but avoid your normal activities for at least two weeks.
What aftercare is provided for Breast Enlargement surgery?
Our aftercare programme puts you at the centre and our staff are committed to helping you at every stage of your recovery. You’ll have access to a 24/7 support line, connecting you to our industry-leading nurses and making sure you are completely happy with your surgery.
Is a boob job the same as breast implants?
Yes, ‘boob job’ is another name for Breast Augmentation, (also called ‘Breast Enlargement’ or ‘Breast Enlargement surgery’). It’s a popular cosmetic surgery procedure, making use of breast implants, to help women achieve their ideal size, shape and fullness of breasts.
What breast implants does Pall Mall use?
At Pall Mall Cosmetics we recommend the use of Mentor, the market leaders in terms of breast implants in the UK with both FDA and CE approvals. There is also a range of other implants available.
Your surgeon will discuss the best implant options for your individual cosmetic requirements during a free, no obligation consultation. If you prefer an alternative brand, the surgeon can talk to you about the pros and cons of the implant and whether it is suitable.
Are implants covered under a warranty?
Yes, as part of the Mentor Promise Protection Plan, you get free implant replacement for up to 10 years in the rare event of rupture or deflation. You will also receive financial assistance for capsular contracture (Baker Grade III/IV), double capsule and late seroma complications for up to 10 years.
Do you use B-Lite implants?
We are pleased to be able to offer B-Lite implants. B-Lite implants are up to 30% lighter than other implants and are suitable for women who are active in the gyms or regularly partake in other sports. B-Lite implants also often require less recovery time and patients endure less pain. If you would like to know more about this option, your surgeon will gladly discuss this with you during the consultation.
How do I choose the size, shape and profile of a breast implant?
Undergoing Breast Enlargement is an important decision and one that should not be rushed. Part of that decision is to ensure you choose the correct and most appropriate size of breast implant.
Each person is different – a certain size and profile in one person might look completely different in another. Many patients will know a friend or colleague who has had Breast Enlargement and like their results – again, the implant size/profile they had may not be suitable for you and the look you want to achieve.
During your consultation, your chosen breast or plastic surgeon will listen to what you want to achieve, recommend what is most suitable for you to achieve the look you are hoping for and, using specially designed “sizers”, will give you an idea of the end outcome.
Who are your Breast Enlargement surgeons?
All of our highly skilled and experienced surgeons go through a rigorous practising privileges process at Pall Mall Cosmetics, hold substantive NHS posts across the North West and hold full indemnity insurance.
Our specialist consultant plastic and breast surgeons are registered with BAPRAS (British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons) and/or are BAAPS (British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons) accredited so you receive the gold standard of patient care and a commitment to excellence in aesthetic surgery.
When do I need to replace my breast implants?
It is a myth that all implants need to be replaced 10 years after the original procedure. Many women will not need an implant change 20 years after their original procedure, whereas some may need it in less than 10 years. Implants typically need to be removed or replaced if there is a rupture or deflation, capsular contracture takes place, or the appearance of your breasts has changed due to factors like weight loss or child-birth.
Why do I need to go private for Breast Enlargement surgery?
The NHS does not commonly carry out Breast Augmentation or Enlargement surgery unless there is an associated and significant distress or pain. For this reason, many women choose to have the procedure done at a private healthcare clinic such as Pall Mall Cosmetics. There is no waiting list, and you do not need any referral to have an operation performed.
We can ensure your safety at our CQC (Care Quality Commission) regulated hospital in Newton-le-Willows and city centre clinics in Manchester, Liverpool or Leeds. Our surgeons mostly come from the NHS, so you get the same quality of surgery, but in a safe, clean and professional private clinical environment.
Should I have under or over the muscle breast implants?
Implants can be placed in three different locations – under the muscle (“submuscular”), over the muscle (“subglandular” or “retromammary”) or partially below the muscle.
Where the implant is placed depends on you and your desired outcome. Each option has its own advantages and each person will be more suited to a particular placement. The surgeon will discuss this in full with you during your consultation.
How long does the drop and fluff process take after Breast Enlargement surgery?
The “drop and fluff” process after breast augmentation typically takes 3 to 6 months, though every patient heals differently. In the first few weeks, breast implants often sit high and feel firm due to swelling and tight chest muscles.
Around weeks 6–8, implants begin to drop into a lower, more natural position.
By 3–6 months, the surrounding breast tissue relaxes and expands, allowing the implants to fluff, giving the breasts a softer, rounder, and fuller appearance. Factors like implant size, placement (above or below the muscle), and skin elasticity can affect the timeline.
Always follow your surgeon’s aftercare instructions for the best results.
